Research and Planning Task: Task 1: History

Research and Planning Tasks: Task 1:  History In the mid-60s, US soul singer James Brown developed a new style of music called  funk . In soul music the melody and lyrics are central, but in funk the rhythmic  groove  is central. The main stress in a funk rhythm is on the first beat of the bar, called "the one", and a repeated pattern of drum beats and bass lines that begins on the one creates a groove. Riffs played by guitars and horn-sections add to the groove, and rhythmic vocals and raps can be added as well. A funk groove can continue for a long time without  chord  changes, and funk songs in the 60s often lasted for ten minutes or more. By the early 70s, nightclubs called  discos  were employing  DJs  to play dance  tracks  because it was cheaper than hiring a band. At first they played funk and up-tempo soul tracks, but in the mid-70s they started playing tracks with a new rhythm that was easier to dance to. It had a...

The Follower- TV Drama Opening

Image
Here is my tv drama opening called The Follower that I created with my friend Lily. Lily was in charge of directing and I was in charge of editing. The whole tv drama is about a psychopath killer who is also a 16 year old boy who goes to school and no one knows that he is killing people. It follows his life and fellow classmates of his trying to find out who their friend and what my character knew that she wasn't meant to know, and the people who get close to finding out get killed. Little do the teens know that their class mate murdered their friend. I really enjoyed creating this with Lily and I am really proud of how it turned out.

Australia Music Video

Image
For my music video, I created this video about my travels around Australia. This video took me a long time to edit but it turned out really well. I chose a song called disconsolate that I found on Soundcloud that I felt was perfect for this video since it has a nice beat. This music video is more to do with the editing and not really to do with a story line, so I would love to do another that has more of a story line.

How digitally convergent media platforms have impacted movie production, distribution and consumption - The Jungle Book 1967 vs. 2016

Explain the impact of digitally convergent media platforms on movie production, distribution and consumption. Refer to The Jungle Book 1967 and 2016 to support your answer(15 marks). Over the five decades since The Jungle Book 1967 came to the silver screen, there has been a complete technological revolution. While the 1967 film was only released on the one available platform – the cinema – the 2016 film is – one year on – already on multiple platforms for audiences to view globally, including online streaming. Firstly, digitally convergent media has had a huge impact on movie production, for example by allowing synergies in production that produce cost saving for movies can be shown across a number of convergent platforms like smartphones, TV, and cinema. Also by allowing synergies in production it creates brand identity which can be shown across convergent platforms, making that brand more popular. When the 1967 Jungle Book was released, there was no digitally convergent m...

Candy Cloud: Music Video

Image
My Music Video This half term, I made a music video for the song Candy Clouds(No Police Reflix) by Jack Dean, who I have been a big fan of and have recently come into contact with. I shot all these clips during my summer holiday to Spain and I have recently put all the clips together to make this music video. I think this song works really well for the clips I captured and showed just how beautiful my trip was. I think if I did another music video, I would really want it to have a story because I think that this is the one thing missing from this video. I really like my editing because all the clips and my editing flows well with the music. I hope you enjoy.

The Jungle Book: 2016

The Jungle Book: 2016-  Disney's Savvy Marketing Skills General Facts T he Jungle Book released almost half a century after the original 1967 masterpiece made its debut. As of May 26, 2016, its collections stand at $861,391,402 worldwide.  The wolf puppies in the film are named after motion capture actors and other crew members.  Although the story is set primarily in India, the film’s locations were entirely shot at the LA Center Studio in Los Angeles, California using computer-generated VFX.  Neel Sethi, who had never acted before, won the part of Mowgli in his first ever audition among 2,000 children who were vying for the same role. In this film, King Louie is a gigantopithecus whereas in the original movie he is portrayed as an orangutan. The gigantopithecus is an ancestor of the orangutan and this change in species was made to make the film more accurate since orangutans are not native to India. The Numbers Budget:  $175,000,000 ...

The Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards are presented by The Television Academy, the only major organisation devoted to the television and broadband screen entertainment industry. The Emmy awards, telecast prior to the fall television premiere season, is the flagship event for which the Television Academy is best known. The award is named after the image-orthicon camera tube, which was instrumental in the development of television. "Immy" was feminized as "Emmy" to complement the design chosen for the statuette, which depicted a winged, idealized woman holding an atom. The 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles on Sunday. This year's awards were dominated by digital television. 'The Handmaid's Tale' and 'Big Little Lies' were the main winners. 'The Handmaid's Tale' won five awards including best drama series, best actress for Elisabeth Moss and best supporting actress for Ann Dowd. 'The Handmaid's Tale's' win f...

Preliminary Task

Here is my Preliminary Task! I really love the outcome of this video and I learnt some new filming techniques that I'm excited to use them more in the future.

Media & Me

Media & Me I have had an extensive history with media going all the way back to 2012 when I was a little middle school girl living in America. My first experience with media was when I got my Instagram account in early 2012 and I still use it everyday to this day and I have posted over 300 photos. Also in 2012, I set up my Snapchat and to this day it is my most used form of media. In 2013, I set up a Tumblr account that I absolutely adored at the time, but I barely use it anymore. Also in 2013, I set up my Pinterest account, which I used at the time to help me get ideas to decorate my new room, and I am using it again at the moment to do the same thing. In 2014, I set up my Youtube account, ixlauren and ixlauren vlogs, and they are my favorite form of media because I get to create content that shows my passions and people enjoy watching it. I have been creating videos for over 3 years now and I have made about 40 videos. Most recently, In 2015, I set up my Facebook account which...
